Music lovers, concert goers, people who love free entertainment…
This site is about the community.
This site is not about free. It’s about community. This community consists of folks inclined to get out of the house and enjoy music, share a bottle of wine with friends, and be part of a bigger thing.
This website—or the idea of this website—was conceived at the Missouri Botanical Garden on the evening of June 6, 2012 while we enjoyed our cheese and sausage along with a glass of wine waiting for the Vince Martin concert to begin. I said to Deb, my wife and partner in this project, I wonder if freeconcertsstl.com was available. You see, I’m an internet marketing consultant and can’t help but wonder if something I love doing or think is worth promoting has a good searchable domain name that has not yet been registered. Deb immediately said, check to see if it’s available and if it is, buy it. So I punched up my favorite registrar, entered in the domain name and sure enough, it was available. I bought it!
We had this site launched within 24 hours of the birth of the idea and immediately began loading it up with content. We’ve been brainstorming and creating ever since, developing the concept of building actual—not online—community based on our lifestyle of enjoying the process of planning, preparing food, packing, parking, and to complete the alliteration, partying. In our blog we’ll share our thoughts on this process, and help newbies adopt our lifestyle of attending free concerts, perhaps as often as we do; at least once per week.
